Lombard Dentist Educates Community on Root Canal Awareness Week

Lombard dentist encourages the public to stay educated on the warning signs and symptoms of a dying tooth.

Lombard dentist, Dr. Mohit Patalia, and his dental team are promoting Root Canal Awareness Week during March 17-23, 2015. Reflection Dental is encouraging the public to stay educated on the warning signs and symptoms of a dying tooth.

Performing certain responsibilities daily can help to prevent the need for endodontic treatment.  Here are some of the most efficient ways to lessen the risk:

  • Brushing and flossing on a daily basis
  • Address any trauma to the tooth immediately
  • Visit our dental office at least twice per year
  • Eating a healthy diet with fruits and vegetables
  • Avoid foods and drinks that may contain sugars, starches and acid

Taking these pre-emptive measures is important to increase your odds against endodontic treatment. Endodontic treatment is very common and “it is estimated that 15.1 million people were treated annually for root canals in 2006.”

Some common symptoms of needing root canal treatment include tooth decay, gum pimples, darkened teeth, tenderness/swelling of the gum area, or exposure of the tooth’s nerve. Dr. Patalia advises patients to visit his dental office regularly in order to detect any problems early.  If a root canal is needed, it is best to address the problem immediately in order to prevent worsening of the pain, infection or tooth decay.

Dr. Patalia is highly trained in endodontic treatment and is able to detect symptoms at the earliest stages. In the instance that you may benefit from a referral to an endodontist, you will find comfort in knowing that we have established relationships with the top local providers in the area that embody similar philosophies in patient care and excellence.

Dr. Patalia emphasizes the importance of Root Canal Awareness Week. He encourages his patients to be proactive and properly maintain good oral health.  At Reflection Dental, our goal is to give you exceptional service beginning with your initial contact with our office all the way through treatment at every visit. Please contact our Lombard dentist for more information or to schedule a consultation.
